October is hitting its stride in Mobile, and this week gives you plenty of reasons to get out of the house.

Whether you want a specialty burger, downtown art, local history, a free cultural festival or a night at the symphony, the calendar is full from now through Sunday.

MobTown Burger Week — through October 11

MobTown Burger Week continues through Sunday, October 11, with more than 25 participating restaurants creating specialty burgers for the event.

Each featured burger sold sends $3 to Restore Mobile, the nonprofit organization that works to rescue and revitalize vacant and deteriorated historic homes in Mobile.

Diners can visit participating restaurants, try the limited-time creations and vote for their favorites.

It is an easy way to turn lunch or dinner into a mini tour of Mobile’s restaurant scene while supporting historic preservation.

Mobile in the Gilded Age — opens October 9

The History Museum of Mobile opens its new major exhibition, Mobile in the Gilded Age, on Friday, October 9.

The exhibit explores the city during the period of rapid change from the late 1800s into the early 1900s.

Historic gowns, inventions and everyday objects help tell the story of expanding commerce, new technology, changing institutions and the challenges faced by many residents during the era.

The exhibition is scheduled to remain on view through June 6, 2027, so this weekend is just the beginning.

LoDa ArtWalk Celebrates Halloween — October 9

Downtown Mobile gets an early dose of Halloween during LoDa ArtWalk on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.

The October edition includes costumes, live performances, local artists and makers, food trucks and interactive activities along Dauphin Street.

Families can also look for hands-on crafts, face painting and other activities in the Kids’ Zone.

ArtWalk is one of Mobile’s easiest recurring events to enjoy casually: walk downtown, browse the vendors and galleries, listen to music and stop for food along the way.

Fall Market in the Park — begins October 10

Mobile’s Fall Market in the Park begins Saturday, October 10, and continues on Saturdays through November 14.

The market brings together farmers, artisans, food vendors and locally made goods, giving shoppers a seasonal way to support area growers and small businesses.

Mobile Latin Fest — October 10

Mobile Latin Fest returns Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Mardi Gras Park.

The free festival celebrates Latin American and Caribbean cultures with live music, dance, food, cultural exhibits, artisan vendors and family-friendly activities.

The event is organized by the Hispanic American Business Association and also supports programs including scholarships, entrepreneurship and community outreach.

Mobile Symphony opens its season — October 10–11

The Mobile Symphony Orchestra opens its 2026–27 season at the Saenger Theatre with Spectacular!, a program built around the connection between music and visual art.

Performances are Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

The program includes Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture, Kenji Bunch’s Symphony No. 1 “Lichtenstein Triptych” and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in Ravel’s orchestration.

For families, the Sunday performance is especially worth noting because the orchestra’s Big Red Ticket program allows K–12 students to attend the classical Sunday matinee free when accompanied by a paying adult, subject to the program’s rules and seat availability.

Plan before you go

Event times and details can change, so check the organizer’s current event page before leaving home, especially for outdoor activities.

That advice matters even more this weekend because forecasters are monitoring developing Gulf weather that could affect local plans.

Still, with food, art, history, culture and music all on the calendar, Mobile has plenty happening this week.
